Amidst the expected excessive excitement of the crowds who witness the strange power of Jesus in healing the sick and in expelling demons, the evangelist Mark has managed to portray Him accommodating with great passion and prudence one of the most vulnerable person in the community, the leprous one.

It is striking to note that as the story of a leper being cured by Jesus unfolds, no mention of anybody, of anyone being around.  Just the two of them; one who is in dire need to be healed and the one who personally and passionately reaches out and heals.

In a deeply personal and too private encounter, Jesus assures the deeply distressed leprous victim of complete healing.   No matter how big the crowd is, no matter how people keep Him in the public sphere,  still He’s deeply and personally in touched and involved specially with the most vulnerable.

He remains passionately drawn into what makes us healed and whole.  Amen.
