Gospel Reflection for the 2nd Sunday of Lent C2013

2nd Sunday of Lent 2013 (Lk 9.28b-36)

Deeply absorbed in prayer, Jesus radiates in glory.  A bright occasion but not without the shadow of the cross.  It is the vision of the cross that makes the prayer of Jesus more intense and glorious.

The cross necessitates the Lord to come into prayer for the sake of his disciples.  Aware of its inescapability and the delicate vulnerability of the disciples, Jesus prays.  While in prayer, He shines and everyone witnesses the glory which can change and transform the cross into being a grace of joy and victory.

Lent reveals the glory of the cross.  It is the season where Jesus’ prayer is so intense on behalf of each one of us to strengthen us amidst the many crosses that lay down along the path making the journey unbearable for many.

In times that you feel weak and helpless, let the season of Lent speak:  Jesus is intensely at prayer for you.  Amen.
