THE BEAUTY OF DEFORMITY

(Mk 9.38-43, 45, 47-48)

Sin deforms.

Jesus uses the trick of sin itself to ensure its own defeat:  deformity.

“Better maimed, crippled, with one eye to enter into life than having two hands, two feet, two eyes and be thrown into Gehenna.” (

What sin inflicts is wisely made use by Jesus to carry out the radical elimination of sin.  Physical deformities are the preferred life condition over any sinful life situation.

This, once and for all, took place on the cross.  Completely cut off on and by the cross, Jesus assumed every human deformity and so destroyed sin and in His Name all are reformed.

Are we still worried about human deformities?

Remember, Jesus reforms.  Amen.
